The
new band developed a name and a following. In 1984, it made its first LP
recording for GHB Records (recently reissued on CD). Also in 1984, the
GDJB played in Central City, Colorado and Creswell, Oregon festivals. In
1985, the band appeared at the San Diego Jazz Festival; in 1986 at the
Sacramento Jazz Festival, both of them first time appearances. In addition to developing a following in the United States and Western Canada, the Dominion band began to find interest abroad for its special brand of New Orleans jazz. Several trips outside North America were booked. In 1988 the band toured England and Scotland and repeated the tour in 1989, expanding it to include festivals in Brecon (Wales) , Edinburgh (Scotland) and Marciac (France). In 1992 it again toured England and Scotland, and went to the Marciac Jazz Festival in France for a second time. But the times they are a' changin' ..... read on ....
